VIENNA
When you think of Vienna you have to think of Strauss, the Blue Danube, pastries and the Habsburg dynasty. The city that was the centre of one of Europe's longest ruling empires, is the most modern and cosmopolitan of all of Central and Eastern Europe's capitals. Graced with imposing and grandiose palaces, effervescent music and an abundant wealth of places to eat and drink, Vienna still seduces and takes one back to more majestic times.
|
|
| It has so many things to offer to everyone; music, art, museums, parks, traditional Viennese stores and international designer shops, wonderful evenings in the Opera, the pleasure of tasting some of the delicious pastries and Viennese coffee in the many stylish and traditional cafes. Vienna is a city in the heart of Europe where royal and imperial nostalgia exists in harmony alongside the very latest trends.
When you go to Vienna, we recommend you visit Budapest and Prague aswell. These three beautiful cities are very close to each other and are easily approachable by train, coach, plane or even minibus. Again, you can take advantage of the very economic European Rail Passes aswell.

RIGA
Like it's other Baltic neighbours, Riga has had a chequered and turbulent history with plenty of reminders and relics of its past connections with Sweden, Germany and Russia. One of the oldest trading ports in the world, Riga is a blend of both old and new.
With a thriving commercial centre and charming Old Town with its highly picturesque cobbled lanes, attractive painted facades and a wide variety of museums, Riga will present a challenge for those who have already experienced the fashionable cities of Budapest and Prague.

VILNIUS
One of the cities of the Baltic triumvirate is probably the most provincial of the Baltic capitals. With over half the city covered in greenery it is no surprise that the pace of life is rather a leisurely one. That is not to say that it has not seen its fair share of trials and tribulations through the centuries, with many foreign influences making their mark. Poles, Russians, even the Jesuits all played their part in transforming this small city into their own designs, but throughout all this time Vilnius remained staunchly Lithuanian and clung dearly to its cultural and social roots.
Vilnius is a city that needs to be explored, with sights and attractions that have to be sought out in the nooks and crannies of her winding streets, which once found will reward you with a sense of achievement.

TALLINN
It can be said that many people have compared Tallinn with Prague.
It is smaller definitely and not as heavy with visitors, but it has an architectural beauty that is kindred to the "Golden City".
Founded back in the 11th century and built on Toompea Hill, Tallinn is a cluster of spires, twisting lanes and perfectly preserved buildings which reveal traces of its past and foreign influence. Virtually unchanged over the centuries.
|
|
Tallinn will certainly reward the seasoned traveller looking for new horizons or even the virgin visitor to Eastern Europe who wished to jump into the deep end at the first attempt.
You can visit each of the above beautiful cities separately and stay a long weekend, or you can combine the three Baltic capitals and stay longer.

BUDAPEST
Lying on the same river as Vienna, its neighbour and rival during the days of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Budapest is really two cities divided by the Danube, which is crossed by no less than eight bridges.
On one side, we have the hilly and more historic Buda with its spires and medieval houses and, on the other, Pest, the modern half of the city, which houses the Parliament Buildings.
Along with Vienna, Budapest used to be at the heart of a huge and very splendid empire and still remains today one of the grandest cities in Europe.
Budapest has so much to offer: opera, concerts, ballet, many historic places of interest, excellent shopping.
Good food, wine and music is very important to Hungarians.
The streets are lined with bars, cafes, restaurants and the local wine is very good and very reasonably priced.
|
 |
Trips to Budapest can be combined with visits to other European cities such as Vienna, Prague, Krakow, etc.
You can also take advantage of the very convenient and economic European Rail Passes, when travelling by train. Flights and coach are also available.
